In addition, every week two other great artists will accompany the contestants backstage: Abraham Mateo in rehearsals and Ana Guerra with them just before the performances.
More than 120 contestants will face the verdict of the jury members in the new musical talent produced by RTVE in collaboration with Shine Iberia; their first challenge, to win the right to occupy one of the 9 booths of the programme.
Classics of contemporary music, current hits, songs of all genres in English and Spanish will be the protagonists of TVE’s new talent show.
27 February 2023 – The eagerly awaited premiere of ‘Cover Night’, RTVE’s new prime time format produced in collaboration with Shine Iberia, is getting closer and closer. The programme will feature an internationally renowned jury: Miguel Bosé, Mónica Naranjo, Chanel and Juan Magán. As master of ceremonies, another unique artist, Ruth Lorenzo, who will be accompanied each week by Abraham Mateo – in the contestants’ rehearsals – and Ana Guerra from backstage. All of them are pure music, big names in the industry inside and outside our country who multiply the ‘Cover Night’ bet in their search for the most promising singers in the country who specialise in reinterpreting great musical hits in very different styles.
The term cover refers to the version of a song, classic or current, interpreted in its own style by an artist who is different from the original. Nowadays it is more latent than ever thanks to social networks and now ‘Cover Night’ will have the space it deserves on prime time television in our country. More than 120 singers, selected after a casting with 4,000 candidates, will go on stage with the aim of reaching the grand final and thus be able to win the first edition of the programme, along with a cash prize of 100,000 euros. The judges Miguel Bosé, Mónica Naranjo, Chanel and Juan Magán will undoubtedly play a fundamental role in the future of the contestants, but, in addition, in the fight to occupy one of the 9 ‘Cover Night’ booths that allow the contestants to remain on the show week after week, the public will also have a lot to say: their votes live on set will be decisive.
Cover Night’ kicks off in style. In their first programme, the contestants will showcase their talent to surprise the jury with the first covers of the season. Well-known songs such as Mi gran noche by Raphael, Despechá by Rosalía, Dos gardenias para ti by Antonio Machín and La llorona by Chavela Vargas will be the stars of a first gala for which Ruth Lorenzo also has a spectacular surprise in store. And this is just the beginning, because the music will not stop growing week after week with incredible covers: Quédate by Quevedo, El Patio by Pablo López, Se nos rompió el amor by Rocío Jurado, Morena mía by Miguel Bosé, Believe by Cher, Ay pena penita pena by Lola Flores, Like a Virgin by Madonna, Te felicito by Shakira and Rawn Alejandro or Rolling in the deep by Adele. During the big opening night, viewers will gradually discover the show’s mechanics: thrilling performances, incredible voices, spectacular duels between artists, singers saved by the public’s vote on set and booths that will change hands during the course of the gala.
