RTVE and Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia) have launched the casting process for ‘MasterChef 14’, in search of true gastronomy enthusiasts. It’s a great opportunity for those who respect high-quality ingredients, are devoted to flavour, and eager to learn culinary techniques that will take their cooking to the next level. Aspiring contestants simply need to sign up [via this link] and showcase their talent — just like Gabriela, Ángela, Eneko, María Lo, and Carlos Maldonado, former winners of the culinary talent show.
‘MasterChef 12+1’: a resounding success
On 30 June, Gabriela Hinojosa was crowned the winner of ‘MasterChef 12+1’ in one of the most exciting and closely contested finals in the show’s history. Her menu, a heartfelt tribute to her family, took viewers on a journey through her past, present, and future, drawing flavours from the three cities that have shaped her life. Thanks to her daring and emotionally charged menu, Gabriela not only claimed the MasterChef Spain trophy, but also a €100,000 cash prize and the publication of her own recipe book.
Gabriela and the two runners-up will continue their culinary education at the Basque Culinary Center in San Sebastián. Gabriela will study the Master’s in Cuisine, Technique, Product and Creativity; Bea, her finalist opponent, will pursue a Master’s in Pastry and Restaurant Desserts; and Ismael, who came third, will attend a five-week Specialisation Course.
The broadcast of ‘MasterChef 12+1’ was a major success. The grand finale became the most-watched programme of the night, achieving a 15.1% share, an average of 864,000 viewers, and nearly 3 million unique viewers. Since its premiere, the culinary show remained the prime time leader on La 1, outperforming other channels. It also stood out in time-shifted viewing, averaging 404,000 additional viewers in the final month, representing 32% of the consolidated audience, securing its place as the most-watched content on Spanish television.
