Synopsis

A selection of gastronomic influencers, professional chefs and amateurs will cook in imposing kitchens more than 25 metres high, divided into three levels. The attic houses a state-of-the-art kitchen, equipped with the most modern and sophisticated appliances and utensils on the market: blenders, roasters, grills, canners, steam ovens for everyone, flexinduction or blender, among others, make up this culinary paradise. Just below is the kitchen on the first floor, with very complete equipment, but far from the luxuries available in the attic. In this case, the ovens are shared, there is no possibility of steaming and there is no chafing dish, blender, blender or canning machine. Finally, there is no advanced technology in the basement. Contestants will have to work with non-stick pans and unsharpened knives.

However, the levels will not be the most destabilising element the contestants will face. To select the ingredients they will use for cooking, they will have to keep an eye on the platform, a mobile pantry that will remain in each of the levels for just 30 seconds. After this time, it will move down to the next level. As the platform moves down the levels, the ingredient options run out and contestants will have to make do with what’s left. No sharing or wasting is allowed. In addition, all the ingredients they take will have to be used up.

Each ‘Next Level Chef’ programme will consist of three tests. The first will be a precision test, in which the contestants will individually face a skill challenge. The result of this test will determine the allocation of the teams in each of the kitchens. This will be followed by a longer cooking session, in which the members of each team will cook on the same level under the supervision of their mentor. It will be important to place the finished dishes on the platform, otherwise the contestant who fails to do so will go straight through to eviction. During the tasting, each mentor will decide which is the worst dish.

Hosted by Blanca Romero in the Spanish version, she is accompanied by chefs Francis Paniego, Rakel Cernicharo and Marcos Morán, who will act as judges and mentors to the contestants. Each of them will lead a team made up of 5 members who will have to prove that they can cope with any limitations imposed by the kitchens in which they work. The ultimate goal is clear: to discover Spain’s next revelation chef. The winner of the first edition of ‘Next Level Chef’ will win 100,000 euros and the trophy that accredits him/her as the winner.
