‘Call Me Bibi’, a documentary series produced by Movistar Plus+ in collaboration with Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia), explores the life and career of one of Spain’s most influential cultural figures across three episodes.

Pedro Almodóvar, Antonio Banderas, Alaska, Rossy de Palma and other leading names from the worlds of culture and entertainment retrace Bibiana Fernández’s remarkable journey through their personal testimonies.

Actress, singer, presenter and fashion icon Bibiana Fernández takes centre stage in ‘Call Me Bibi’, the new original documentary series from Movistar Plus+, produced in collaboration with Shine Iberia (Banijay Iberia). Across three episodes, the series follows the life and career of one of Spain’s most significant cultural figures, revealing for the first time the most intimate side of a woman who challenged the conventions of her era and paved the way through her freedom and unique understanding of identity.

Structured in three chapters, the documentary traces the defining stages of Bibiana Fernández’s life while revisiting the places that shaped her story: Tangier, Málaga, Barcelona and Madrid. Each city provides the backdrop to understanding how a distinctive personality evolved into one of Spain’s foremost artistic, social and cultural icons.

Moving beyond her public image, ‘Call Me Bibi’ combines an intimate portrait with the key milestones of a career spanning several decades of Spain’s recent history. From her early performances in music halls, revue theatres and cabarets to her emergence as a pop culture muse, the series revisits defining moments such as her collaborations with Pedro Almodóvar in films including High Heels and Kika, as well as the cultural impact of her iconic Interviú magazine covers.

The documentary also features interviews with many of the people who know Bibiana Fernández best and have shared different stages of her personal and professional journey. Contributors include Pedro Almodóvar, Félix Sabroso, Antonio Banderas, Victoria Abril, Alaska, Mario Vaquerizo, Rossy de Palma, Loles León, Ana Rosa Quintana, María Dueñas, Boris Izaguirre, Topacio Fresh, Manuel Bandera, Jenny Llada, Valeria Vegas, Elena Benarroch and José Luis Gil, among others, all reflecting on the legacy of an artist whose influence has transcended generations.

Focusing on the woman behind the public persona, ‘Call Me Bibi’ explores themes of identity, freedom and personal transformation through the story of a woman who not only changed the course of her own life, but also helped transform society’s perception of gender, identity and self-expression.
